First days :)

I would just like to say, I had an amazing first two days of school! Thank you for anyone who prayed for me.

I do have to say, I was scared to death because I didn't have rosters before school. If I had stuck to the good ole' teach those who come, I would have been teaching everyone from last year, because apparently they all wanted me...

Our school separates 9th grade from the rest of the highschool, so my first period was a class full of 10th graders that were on their very best behavior. Some of them were still half asleep, and others were scared to death at the thought of learning a new language. All in all I think they were very excited and you could really tell their enthusiasm yesterday when we started learning how to say lots of things in Spanish.

I was slightly concerned about my 2nd period class, because although I did not have a roster, the students had their schedules. At open house one of my students mentioned to me that he and half the football team were all in my class together. These are football players that all play baseball together as well...so they are all really good friends. BUT...as it turns out, they were actually fairly well behaved. I taught the majority of them last year, so they are all familiar with my rules.

The rest of the day was great. My last class of the day was a little wild Thursday, but they were on their best behavior yesterday.

I did manage to make it to the track on Thursday, which was great! My feet hurt so bad from standing all day and then doing about 3 miles...but it's all good. I did treat myself to some ice cream when i finished :)

Yesterday I went out to eat and then to see a friend that had back surgery, so I didn't get to run at all, but I'll make up for it today.

Open House!

So, tomorrow is open house :) I'm excited! I also got a sneak peak at some kids that I taught last year and I'm super excited that I get some of the same kids that I really enjoyed having for Spanish I.

I have to make my little sign in the morning that says "Ms. McMahan, Spanish I & II".

I'll have to take pictures of my classroom so everyone can see my bright colored bulletin board...it's orange background with all kinds of multi-colored borders.

Last year I taught the same thing 5 times a day (Spanish I) and this year and I am teaching Spanish I and II. I'm so happy to not have the same thing all day. Also, I'm teaching 6 classes instead of 5.

So how's the running going? It's going...It's harder now that I'm busy, but I'm sticking with it. There are a lot of people at work preparing for marathons/5k's apparently, so I'm going to do this! I haven't weighed myself. I walked 3.5 miles yesterday and 3.5 today, but no running. I'm going running in the morning. We don't have to be at school until 11, so if I go around 7:30 I'll be fine. I'm going to be at school at 9, because I'm an over achiever and I want to get everything done.

Still eating very healthy food though! Tonight we had a grilled chicken breast, a little rice, and a nice salad...at lunch I had a bunch of veggies and some roast beef at some restaurant...But I'm happy with how everything is going!

8lbs down!

I'm excited! I really shouldn't get on the scale every day...and I honestly try not to. It's been 3 days since I got on the scale so I weighed myself, just out of curiosity today. 8lbs down from the start day! I'm so glad!

I can really feel all my muscles working and I feel AMAZING! I did take a muscle relaxer last night, but that was for neck pain, something I have always had and leads to a miserable migraine if it's not treated.

I can't tell you how many times I was walking yesterday and thinking, "I feel like I have buns of steel already"...my bum was REALLY hurting yesterday! It's these pilates and the running combined.

Also, I think I'm going to start taking pictures of some of my dinners. Yesterday my dinner just looked so fabulous, and I thought the same thing the night before. So, I shall take pictures and show you what a DELICIOUS weight watchers dinner can look like...I'll be sure to include how many points for the meal too.

Off to enjoy my LAST DAY OF SUMMER VACATION! WOOT! I really am excited to see what kids I get to have this year!

STINK!

I want to know what in the world is making my house smell so terrible...

I tried describing the smell to my roommate (who cannot smell this awful smell)....I said it is like Bug spray meets stinky shoes....I have worked out for about 2 hours today so maybe it's me...I don't know!

Maybe a shower will change all of these things, I sure as heck hope so, because it's an awful smell...really!

So I have set a goal for myself. I would like to be able to run a marathon by December. I don't think there are many that I am actually interested in during that month, but I am interested in some spring marathons...but being able to accomplish the 5k and work at a faster time starting in December will be GREAT!

Yesterday I walked 2 miles. Today I walked/ran 2.5 miles and then walked another 1 mile....also did an hour of Pilates. I made an agreement in my head that every time a car passed I would run for 1 minute...and I did good for about 5 cars, then as the last car was coming, I just couldn't do it...mind you there was 100% humidity today and 95 degrees, so that was terrible. I got to the track, ran 2 laps, then walked back, with just 1 minute of running...so I think I did a pretty good job. I know I have to start out slow. When I came home I did as much Pilates as I could handle and turned off the dang DVD when I was ready to throw something at the TV.

This evening my roommate needed her exercise so we went back to the track and walked 1 mile together. I was supposed to go to boot camp tonight, but I skipped out...I will HAVE to go next Tuesday. I know I worked just as hard at home and at the track as I would have with boot camp, so I don't feel too bad.

Ok...so that's my goal for now. I have set it...AND I'm also trying to be ok with NOT caring what I weigh, but just being satisfied fitting in the clothes I used to wear...which I think is a much better goal than aiming for a specific weight.

I have already lost 6lbs since we started weight watchers! HOORAY! Obviously I gained some post-break up pounds so I am just getting those off...yuck! But I'm almost to what I was before the drama started...I think maybe 2 more lbs to go.

Bucket List continued...

I think I should begin by explaining number 47. I have named my future husband Tom, and even if he isn't named that for real, that's what I'm going to call him. It's a very long story really, but I know some of you may have been wondering, "why does she want to find Tom?" No, I wasn't referring to the myspace Tom.

So, I've been doing some thinking, and I hope that I have been able to encourage MANY people to do this bucket list as well. There is a book called 2002 (I think it's 2 at the end) to do in a life time (or before you die, I'm terrible with book names). Anyways, it's pretty good, and I have looked through some of the things. Yesterday on the way back from whitewater rafting in TN I know I encouraged a couple more people to make a bucket list.

ok....

Another year older...

So I turned 22 yesterday. It was a GREAT birthday. Crystal (my new roommate) and I went to her grandparents lake house and laid on the dock for about six hours. Then a bunch of friends surprised me and met us for dinner at a seafood place on the lake, which rocked! Then we jammed out to Katy Perry (my new cd) the whole way home....got home, checked facebook and went to bed!

Now, for those of you who don't teach maybe this doesn't sound like a blast, but to me, a week before school starts, one day of pure relaxation is AMAZING!

One week from today I have to head back to work. I'm very excited about this year though. Last year I started with students who had a different teacher at the beginning of the year, so it was a difficult, although smooth, transition. This year they will be all mine from the very beginning! I'm actually going to have a lot of the same students from last year, but it will just be different in general.

My emotions have been shot to heck this summer, but I'm recovering well. I'm ready for school to be here so I can be busy all the time and not have time to think about people that no longer matter. Everyone, and I mean everyone says, "you're so lucky to have found out now"...well you're not lucky to have something like that happen EVER to you, BUT I know that God has much better plans for my life, so that's what I'm looking forward to for this year.

I have no idea where God will take me next year, but I'm willing to do almost anything.

Off to spend those birthday bucks <3
