Freezing Feet

At first I was going to title it "cold feet" and then I thought- no that's when you're afraid to get married...NOT a good title for this since I'm literally talking about FEET!

I have always thought that carpet in a bathroom was just wrong. You should have tile floors and at least one floor mat in case you drip out of the shower. However, after being dressed in my flannel pj's and needing to use the potty, I have decided carpet in the winter would be nice...The tile was SO cold! I didn't realize how cold I was until I stepped on it.

Lucky for me I have a pair of snoozies, http://www.sleepyheads.com/Browse_by_Brand/Snoozies_Footies/Snoozies_Womens_Footies_and_Socks

I found them several weeks ago while shopping at the Hane's outlet. I think they were only about $5. Mine are pink and they have sheep on them. They are SO warm...I have even gone to bed with them on before. However, just like socks, they are not on my feet when I wake up. To bad!

A delightful weekend

This weekend was rather enjoyable. Friday night I worked the concession stand at the basketball game (not extremely enjoyable, but good friends to work with).

Saturday I woke up, went to Dunkin Donuts and got some coffee and a bagel (YUM), then I went shopping with my future sister-in-law and my future mother-in-law. My future MIL gave Lauren and I both some money and we bought a ton of clothes...we found some great deals and she even clipped coupons ahead of time for each of us to use!

My day filled with shopping was followed by wine and hors d'oeuvres with some great girlfriends.

Today Brandon and I went to hear the Christmas cantata at church and then went out to eat and did some shopping. We were trying to finish up our Christmas shopping and that did not happen...I still have a few things left to get. Brandon just has one gift left to buy and then he has his secret santa. After watching an episode of the O.C. we decided to go back out to go shopping...of course not thinking that it's Sunday and all of the stores close at 6pm apparently! We got two things at walmart and filled up my car with gas.

Since we got home we've just been sitting around watching tv and wrapping presents. Everything is wrapped except for Brandon's gift to me and my gifts to him...

Off to enjoy 4.5 days of students and a half day of working and then we will be off for the Holidays!

Our engagement

I have to apologize in advance because there are only pictures of my and the dog in this post...non of Brandon. We actually haven't taken any pictures since we got engaged....well not together...I have taken plenty of the ring :)

Before I get started you will all need a little background knowledge since I have never said anything about Brandon before...

Brandon LOVES to hunt...if he is not teaching or coaching, he wants to be in the woods. For the past year Brandon has had to build in time for me and he has been really good about not hungting ALL the time, especially since I never go with him.

He has mostly kept the hunting to the weekends when I can go spend time with my girlfriends, but the last few weeks he has gone once a week to hunt with a friend from work. My only complaint has been that they get back SO late and then we don't get to spend time together. Brandon and I eat all of our meals together, so of course we plan out our meals and shop accordingly. If he's going hunting, we usually plan to go out to eat. Well, I have LEARNED my lesson about that...after two weeks of sitting around until 9 or 10pm with nothing to eat because they killed something and were late getting home...I REFUSE to go out to eat on a hunting night. Our little town closes up at 10pm and there are not even fast food places open!

Last Monday Brandon asked me if I wanted to go out to eat on Thursday after he gets back from hunting with his friend. I promptly said ABSOLUTELY NOT! He was kind of disappointed but understanding and I said I would cook whatever he wanted. So I cooked teryaki chicken on Thursday night and veggies marinated in teryaki sauce...his favorite. He got home around 7:15 and I was watching 16 and pregnant. Brandon hates that show, but I was really into it on this particular day (I always give my self one sleezy show to watch...probably bad, but I do). I did not change the channel and of course some sleezy show that I HATE came on next and Brandon said "oh I like this, leave it here"...So I curled up in my blanket on the couch and fell asleep.

A couple of hours later Brandon started bothering me. I figured he wanted me to go to my bed so I wasn't sleeping on the couch...nice but I wasn't moving. Then he says, "really honey there is something wrong with Ginny (our precious dog)". I responded "I'm sure you can handle it". He says "No, really she has this lump on her kneck will you feel it?" *You have to understand Ginny has really bad skin allergies so this is totally normal* I was getting kind of ticked because it was after 10pm and I was asleep. Finally he put the dog on top of me and put my hand on her collar. I said, "yup, I feel a lump" *still with eyes closed* Brandon says "OPEN YOUR EYES" and there was a beautiful 2 carat diamond ring on Ginny's collar. Then I started jumping for joy and immediately called my mommy!

Ginny is a miniature shnauzer specialty breed. She got hit by a car about 8 weeks ago and we are SO blessed that God saved her! She got hit by the local vet...not funny but funny.

Okay, off to the gym before they close all the roads for the Christmas parade!!!

I lost 5 lbs. this week!

That's right, this week I cut out almost all carbs and I went to the gym 5 days. I'm so happy to be down 5 lbs. I wasn't going to start in January, but a friend of mine could get married whenever (long story, boyfriend in military) and the dress doesn't quite fit, so I've got to lose weight before January.

This weeks routine:
Morning:
Wake up, put really warm robe on, cook 2 eggs and 2 pieces of sausage (I found some at Kroger last week that you can microwave for 30 seconds inside their bag). I also made sure to drink a very full glass of ice water
Eat, get dressed, put on make up.

10:15- have a handful of almonds- did you know they really fill you up! I also made sure during that class to down a whole bottle of water.

Lunch:
A couple of days I had tuna mixed with a little mayo and dill pickles and then a salad. I used celery to dip my tuna. The other days I had left over meat from dinner and broccoli.

I only felt the need for an afternoon snack a couple of days and I chose to eat celery or cut up cucumbers.

Gym: On Monday the lady next to me burned 400 calories in 38 minutes just by walking on the treadmill at a high incline...AND she was old and chubby so I KNEW I could do that! (My chiropractor has told me no running for a while because I have pinched nerves in my neck, so I have to speed walk) Anyways, every day I did the treadmill for 20 minutes, the eliptical for about 10 minutes, then I walked slowly for about 5 minutes. Then I did this ab machine thing until I couldn't anymore. On Tuesday I found a hip weight thing that is supposed to tone your hips (Mine are all lard right now)...I can't tell a difference yet but I know it burns when I do it...so hopefully soon I will notice a difference.

Dinner: I don't really remember all the dinners we had...Fish one night (they season it for free at Ingles), Prime rib one night, Steak one night, Teryaki chicken with teryaki vegetables....I really cannot remember the others.

I made some pudding with whipping cream which had no carbs and it was good...I think I ate that 3 nights.

This post is already really long...If I have time in my busy schedule tomorrow I will post about our engagement. My mom and dad are coming down on Thursday to go look at the church and our (hopefully) reception site.

I'M ENGAGED

The story will have to wait until tomorrow because I was already asleep! But, I'm HAPPILY ENGAGED TO MY BEST FRIEND BRANDON DAVIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The weekend is almost here!

One day of giving quizzes and I will be free for the weekend!...if only I were truly "free" to do whatever I want. I am technically doing things I CHOOSE to do...but I don't look forward to waking up early both Saturday and Sunday.

I usually choose one of those days to sleep in...and silly me has been choosing Sundays lately to sleep in instead of attend church. However, this week I really want to go to church because a pastor candidate is going to be preaching.

I will be so glad when there is a new pastor for our church. I don't particularly care for the interum. I guess he is okay for some people, but he's not really my style. I have been attending this Baptist church for a little over a year and I love the church. When I first started attending the youth pastor was filling the pulpit, but he decided just before the summer that he could not do youth group and preach every Sunday. He does not feel called to be a pastor, but I LOVE his preaching!

Anyways, the interum is older, he does lots of ubber Baptist things...nothing wrong with them, I'm just not used to them...and even some Baptists' are uncomfortable with some things he does. For example, the first time he preached, he had everyone turn around in their chair, get on their knees and pray for about 15 minutes before he started the sermon...if it had been my first time at church there, I would have never gone back. Also, he does these altar call things at the end of the sermon and they sing the same song over and over for about half an hour...I feel so un-Christian saying this, but my tummy growls the whole time.

Anyways, I must go back to church on Sunday to hear this new candidate. This is the most serious candidate that the pastor search committee has found. Saturday I'm going to earn some extra money before Christmas and administer the SAT. It's not too bad, just have to wake up early and it's long. I usually grade papers or do a ton of Sudoku puzzles though so I am semi-productive :)

Off to bed...yes at 8:40... :)

Thanksgiving

I wrote a whole post and then of course the internet messed up.

In short- Thanksgiving was great. We went to Will and Manda's house and I got to spend some quality time with my extremely intelligent nephew, James. He and I share corn pudding as our favorite Thanksgiving food :) I'm so proud.

He looks extremely scared in the following picture...I do apologize, I promise we were having a blast on the swing set!

I love spending time with my family! I am so proud of how independent and smart my 2 year old nephew is. He can push with his feet and pull with his hands on this swing all by himself. And he climbs the slide and goes down all by himself! Oh, and he can spell his name and recognize all of the letters in the alphabet. He is so wonderful :)

Okay, well I'm off. Brandon and I are going to Athens in the morning for the Georgia vs. Georgia Tech game.

Over a year!

So, I have decided to start posting again. I love reading other peoples blogs...and since I'm always reading someones blog, maybe they would like to know about me...Not that I'm extremely interesting, but hey!

I guess I will start from where I left off...last year I was trying to lose weight and I did a great job- I lost about 20lbs. This year I joined the gym and I have gained weight...oh joy! But I have been really busy as well so more fast food- YUCK! My friend Crystal and I have come up with a new resolution. We're going to take pictures of ourselves on Jan. 3 (The day we go back to work). Our goals are a little different- mine is 5lbs by the end of January and her goal is 10lbs by the end of January. Each month we will take pictures of our progress. I think it will be fun.

Brandon has no interest in losing weight, but he is very supportive. Although, like any good boyfriend should, he tells me I'm beautiful and that I'm not fat...which the latter is a little fib, but it's okay.

The holidays are here again! But enough about losing weight- on to family! My mom and dad will be in the U.S. in about 24 hours. I'm very excited to see them. They are going to be staying at a missions house in Alabama, about an hour from Chattanooga (where my brother is).

This year our family has been through a lot. William and Amanda found out in July that there was a problem with their baby. This past week Amanda gave birth and the baby only lived for about an hour.

In the time where I feel family should be together most, Whitney has decided to vanish. I know it's really hard for her to face this, but I think it's very hurtful that our parents live so far away, and are here to help us...yet she chooses to not spend the holidays with family. I know our whole family is hurt by her decision. I wish the people encouraging her to not spend Thanksgiving with us would take a second look at what has gone on in our lives this year.

Anyways- enough for now. Brandon and I are off to celebrate a family birthday!
